According to the article in Harvard Health, here are a few suggestions to help with feelings: Keep expectations in check. Most families are not picture perfect and jolly. Do not compare and despair. The reality is that for most, holidays are not always joy-filled. Be flexible for things to be different than what they have been in the past or what you think they should look like now or in the future. Being flexible allows for spontaneity and unexpected circumstances. At times, we need to take care of our needs, and not succumb to obligations.
